Thanks. Lynn Kelsey Students should plan to bring their concert black uniforms to school Friday, Feb. 28th. They will be changing into their uniforms at school before we get on the bus to travel to Okemos High School. A map of Okemos High School is attached.
We plan to depart WHS at 11:40 am. Our performance is at 1:00 pm. After we are done performing we will wait for our rating and then travel back to WHS via bus. Approximate return time to WHS is 2:50 pm. Any student who is riding home from the festival with a parent/guardian needs to turn in a transportation waiver by Wednesday. I appreciate your continued support of our program. I look forward to seeing many band parents, family and friends at festival. Lynn Kelsey This post continues the previous one below.
We still need some things for breakfast this week.
Please look at the link in the previous post to see where you can help. This really does mean a lot to the band students as they prepare for the Band Festival this Friday. Vicki As you know, Lynn Kelsey is having the band come in early next week to prepare for Festival. To help the band students get the day off to a good start, we are going to do breakfast for them like we have in the past.
Monday Your booster team will do breakfast on Monday, February 24th. Carolyn, Deanna, Kathy and Vicki will donate all the food for Monday. We are serving a breakfast burrito with a drink. Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday I have set up breakfast menus for the rest of the week. Please go to Perfect Potluck at http://www.PerfectPotluck.com to find the menus and sign up to bring food. Enter "Schneider" as the coordinator and use the following passwords:
Vicki Schneider, Barb Burke, and Teri Watros will assist in the set-up, serving and clean up, however, we would welcome anyone else. We will set up in the hall outside the band room at 7:00 am and should be done by 8:00 am. If you can help that would be great. We know this is short notice but we can do this. Thank you in advance for all you do for the band students. Vicki We are looking for parent chaperones to help at BOTH the Middle and High School Band Festivals. The chaperones will be riding the bus both to and from the festival and supervising the band with the Director during the festival.
The High School Festival is NEXT Friday, February 28th, at Okemos High School. The Middle School Festival is Friday, March 14th. Times will be announced soon. If you are available, please contact Laurie Hereza at [email protected]. Please specify which festival you are available for. Thank you for all that you do and have a wonderful week! Our Evening of Jazz is fast approaching and we need some help. We have an amazing line-up of professional jazz performers coming to perform for the evening. The MS and HS Jazz bands will also be performing.
Outside of great music we have a silent auction at the event. What we are looking for are items that can be put in the silent auction. Who do you know who could donate a service or item to the auction? Do you have a vacation home, timeshare or service that you would be willing to donate for the auction? Things to think of:
If you have an item or service to donate, contact Nancy Deal at 517-281-0562. She is the team leader on this event and needs our support. You can also email Vicki Schneider at [email protected] and I will make sure she gets the information. How else can you help? SPREAD THE NEWS OF THE EVENING OF JAZZ FEATURING THE TRUMPET SOUNDS OF WALTER WHITE, THE FRED KNAPP TRIO AND A SPECIAL GUEST AT THE PIANO. MARCH 28TH. TICKETS WILL GO ON SALE SOON! The Haslett Jazz Night is Saturday, February 22nd, from 7:00-11:20 pm. The Williamston High School Jazz Band I will be performing. WHS Jazz Band II members are encouraged to attend but are not required to.

Attire for the evening is Jazz Band Black. We will be performing from 8:05-8:40 pm. We will begin warming up at 7:15 pm. I would like to encourage our band members to stay for the entire event. There will be performances all evening long by area schools. For those attending who are not performing, there will be an admission charge. I don't have specific information regarding this year's prices, but last year they were advertised as the following: Prices were: $10 adults, $20 family, $6 students/seniors, children under 5 and seniors with HIP free. It should be a fun night of music. I hope many of you can attend. Thanks. Lynn Kelsey Band Booster Meeting

Our deadline to register for the State Festival will be Wednesday, February 12th. Please check your calendars and be ready to register if you earn a first division rating. Thanks. Lynn Kelsey Dear Band Parents,
We are including a flyer about our upcoming mattress sale to be held on Sunday, March 9, from noon to 5:00 pm at the high school. This is a great way to help the bands. Please help us spread the word about this event to anyone you know. Put flyers up at work. Hand them out to neighbors. Tell your friends and family. There will be more details soon, but there are opportunities for students to earn extra money by referring friends and family. Thanks! Lynn Kelsey and Melanie Rosin Anyone interested in helping with the Evening of Jazz event that will take place March 28, we will have a meeting this Wednesday, February 5th, at 6:00 PM in the high school band room.
If you are not able to attend the meeting but still would like to be part of the committee, please contact Nancy Deal at 517-281-0562. This is a wonderful event for our community and students. Please consider helping out. The fee for the piano accompaniment for solos (or for any ensemble with a piano part) this year is $50.00. The Band Boosters are going to cover half of this amount. Families should plan to pay the accompanist $25.00 by this Friday.
The accompanist's name is Rachel Baljeu. Checks should be made out directly to her. Cash is also acceptable. It would be nice to include a Thank You note as well with your payment. Again, please plan to take care of this by Friday, February 7th. Thanks. Lynn Kelsey |
